What is better, a dedicated video card with 128mb RAM or a shared card with up to 1071 MB of RAM?

I know that dedicated cards have their own memory to run graphics, but cant the dedicated card do the same? For example if Im not running any programs and only the game shouldnt the 1071 MB of RAM be enough to run games like WOW or other RPG's like Holic and La Tale? |||Dedicated!

They both have advantages (to do with memory access times and dedicated hardware) but overall a dedicated card generally has more hardware to deal with these faster and more efficiently than a built in card. Plus you can always take it out and replace it in time, which has to be the deciding factor.

Generally dedicated use the extra memory to store larger textures so don't be swayed by the amount of memory on a card. The type or speed of the memory is probably more important.

Unless you want to save some cash for a year or so (until the latest greatest card comes out) dedicated might be the way to go but personally I'd choose dedicated every time! anything around 256mb or above should do you fine for the games you're waanting to play. Another another advantage with dedicated is the game can use all your system memory!|||Dedicated! Unless of course you have more than 2GB of system RAM installed.
