How come my nvidia video card doesn't work?

well i bought an acer aspire laptop a long time ago, and this is my second reformat so it means im going to have to update the drivers, but when it comes to my video card (nvidia geforce GT540M) it doesn't work, i mean ive already downloaded an driver update from the nvidia website and instructed me to restart twice in the process, it still doesn't work... can someone please help|||Go to the pc mfgs website and download it for THAT model.|||You have to use the drivers supplied by Acer for your specific laptop model

This is a direct quote from Nvidia driver download page "please note that your notebook original equipment manufacturer (OEM) provides certified drivers for your specific notebook on their website. NVIDIA recommends that you check with your notebook OEM about recommended software updates for your notebook. OEMs may not provide technical support for issues that arise from the use of this driver."|||well half your problem is that it's an acer and the other half is what the others said, go to www.acer.com pick united states if that is where you live and the go to downloads and pick your laptop model to get the correct driver! :o)|||that card was announced on 06.01.2011. so you didnt buy it that long ago. what exactly isn't working? whats dxdiag reporting?
