How would I go about updating my video card?

I've got a laptop, about 2 years old and I really need to update my video card. I'm really not computer savvy so I have no idea what I'm doing. I basically only play WoW (World of Warcraft) on my laptop, runs at 10-20 fps. What I really need to know is where to look, I've been to Newegg.com but I have no idea what to do 1st.|||Sorry to inform you that Notebook PC video adapters are MUCH DIFFERENT than desktop PC video cards and the Notebook PC graphics adaptor is either integrated on your motherboard or if it is separate a video component then it requires a skilled Notebook PC technican to install and also it is not something a store even like NewEgg would sell rather Notebook PC video components are easy to find on EBAY.

If your particular Notebook PC is integrated, it means it is soldered to the motherboard so often to change it means you must replace the motherboard.

Your Best Bet and less expensive alternative is to purchase Good Brand Name Notebook PC like DELL, HP or IBM LENOVO and insure it comes with upgraded video component.

Hope the Above Info Helps!|||Because you have a laptop it is harder to replace the GPU...

It might not fit....Or it might not be compatible.....Or it might not even have a GPU

Go to a computer store where you can build custom computers and ask for some help...

Bring your laptop in so they can check it out

If there is a GPU that is compatible with your laptop they might order it in for you....

If you have the money i would go for a new laptop|||Many laptops are closed systems (meaning they are about as easy to open up and replace components and getting it to work as a games console (aka from bloody difficult to impossible, unless you built it yourself)) so the only option may be to replace the laptop|||This is the usual problem with laptops. After a year or two, they are out of date, and it is time for a replacement.

Now, as one person typed, laptops are usually closed systems, meaning that upgrading is next to impossible. This is true. If you want an upgrade, ou will have to buy a new laptop, as it would cost about the same as finding a person that might be able to replace the gpu chip and replacing the gpu might not work.

Your curent is getting only 10-20 fps, that is not good. That can be due to many things, like limited ram, bad drivers, poor conection, etc. I would recommend that if you do not want to buy a new laptop, look into upgrading the old one. If you are using under 2gb of ram, bring the system up to 2gb. Remember that video is intergraded on laptops and share the ram with the system. Upgrade the drivers for your video card as well. The third is make sure that your laptop is running the most necasary programs when playing. In other words, if you are downloading a file and playing WOW, stop the download.
